Certification Program Description:

This course is a certification program in the Neuro-Equine Method® of Equine-Assisted Therapy and Learning.

It combines lecture-format didactics along with an emphasis on hands-on experience training for the mental health professionals, psychologists, counsellors and horse professionals with an interest in learning more about how to apply equine-assisted therapy (EAT) and equine-assisted learning (EAL) for their clients or businesses. The course places an emphasis on the neuroscience of why horses are unique in their ability to serve as a therapeutic partner in mental health delivery for human beings. Course work will create a solid understanding how we use right- and left-brain hemispheric functions and apply verbal and non-verbal communication in our daily lives and how horses help us to stress the use of different faculties and emotional resources in our work with clients. The course and demonstrations will emphasize how the horse can help therapists and mental health professionals in their approach to general and specific therapeutic challenges. A host of therapeutic applications will be explored and will include discussions of equine-assisted activities working with clients with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depression, grief, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), group dynamics, parenting, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), panic disorders, phobias, and other behavioural issues. In addition, specific ways of offering EAL/EFL for corporate and academic clients will be reviewed. This course is designed specifically so that participants do not need to have any prior experience to participate. The program will also emphasize how to document and track progress made with clients and tools for effective processing and debriefing of equine-related activities and training.

Numbers of participants are very limited.

Cost for the 20 hour Certification Program $ 2500.00
