Meet Our Horses

Belvoir’s Horses

We used to call our herd “Golden Girls” until George and Louie arrived. In an attempt to be politically correct they are now the Boys and Girls of Belvoir. All of them are extremely gentle, kind, beautiful souls, grateful to be put to use to help human beings to become more whole.. They deeply appreciate the magical energy amplified by the elements of nature on this land We, in turn, feel privileged and honoured to have them in our midst here at Belvoir.

Chanel

Chanel is a 16 year old bay thoroughbred, she stands 16.2 hands high and was the first horse to arrive here at Belvoir in June 2017. She is highly intelligent, intuitive and nurturing. In her life before Belvoir she was used to breed racehorses. She seems to have innate compassion for people who have parental, especially mother issues.

She is the bold and confident leader of our herd. She is a master of balancing self interest with the interest of the herd, and embraces her leadership role to keep everyone safe.

Wynnie

Wynnie is a 27 year old, dark bay thoroughbred. She stands 15.3 hands high and was used as a broodmare. She is one of the infamous All Time Triple Crown Winner “Seattle Slew’s” granddaughters. She loves people, is highly intelligent, goal oriented and seems to have a sense of humour. To watch her move takes one’s breath away. She is one powerful lady.

Vieve

Vieve is a 22 year old bay Hanoverian, stands 16.05 hands high. She was brought over to Canada from Germany for breeding purposes. She has produced absolutely beautiful foals and came to Belvoir Dec. 22nd 2018. She is a very nurturing and sweet soul.

George

George is a 23 year old Quarterhorse and stands 15.5 hands high. As the only “GUY” in the midst of of our girls he is as cool as a horse can get. Nothing bothers him. His role before coming to Belvoir was to teach Vieve’s three foals how to behave like a horse with emphasis on good manners.

His slow and steady presence grounds the busiest of minds and his gentle responsiveness can make time stand still.

Everyone loves George who expects a kiss from someone every morning. To him that’s just good manners.

Serenity

Serenity is a 27 year old thoroughbred bay. She stands 16 hands high. She also came to Belvoir from Circle R Ranch together with Happy. Prior to her time at Circle R she was a race horse and was terribly abused during that time. It took a long time For her to trust again. Belvoir is her 13th owner. Knowing now, that she is here to stay , she has settled in beautifully and takes her role in the herd very seriously..

Hint of Gold (Louie)

Louie left this world far too soon. He was only nine years old. He stood 16.3 hands high and spent the first 3 years of his life racing and then became a jumper. Unfortunately he developed spine problems and can no longer be ridden. He was high spirited but gentle soul with a compassionate heart and we all loved him very much.

Louie Came to Belvoir in December 2020 and was the newest member of our herd. Louie you’ll live on in our hearts miss you very much.

WITH A HEAVY HEART WE HAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO GRAEFIN. July 6, 2020

Graefin was a 24 year old Hanoverian warmblood, Premium State Mare. She came to Canada from Germany at age 5 where she became a highly successful jumper, 1.5 m until she arrived here at Belvoir in October 2017. We will miss her. She will live on in our hearts, always.
